Meteorological Office, Wellington. Tuesday, February 25, 4 p.m. The depression in the south Tasman Sea has remained almost stationary, while pressure is falling slowly over the Dominion. An anticyclone is centred to the east. Winds: Northerlies to north-westerlies prevailing; force, strong at times about and south of Cook Strait, but otherwise moderate. Seas: Rough in Cook Strait; elsewhere, slight or moderate, but considerable swell south of Cape Egmont. Eastern Tasman: North-westerly to westerly winds, light to moderate in the northern portion, with slight seas. Wind becoming strong in the southern portion with seas rising to rough. Weather: Scattered drizzle developing in Westland and later Southland, and western districts of the Wellington province, otherwise conditions continuing fair to fine; mild to warm temperatures. The New Zealand Friends' School, St. John's Hill, reports as follows for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday: Hours of sunshine, 3 hours 20 minutes. Rainfall, nil. Maximum temperature, 72deg. Fahr.; minimum temperature, 58deg. Fahr. Time of sunset to-day, 7.11 p.m. Time of sunrise to-morrow, 5.58 am.
