REGENT THEATRE

“BUCK BENNY RIDES AGAIN” Buck Benny rides again in "Bu<a Benny Rides Again,” which starts today at the Regent Theatre. Jack goes West in furtherance of his mile-a-minute campaign to win the heart of lovely Ellen Drew, who has her heart set on cowboys, and the way in which he accomplishes his purpose is enough to make any zany grey. The brilliant cast of Paramount’s “Buck Benny Rides Again” includes Phil Harris, Virginia Dale, Lillian Cornell, Dennis Day, Rochester, Andy Devine, the Merriel Abbott Dancers, and Jack's pet bear, Carmichael. Some of the song hits in "Buck Benny Rides Again” are "Drums in the Night," “Say it Over and Over Again,” “My. My,” and “My Kind of Country." Paramount’s latest British production, “Spy for a Day," the associate featture, introduces Duggie Wakefield, the well-known comedian, to the screen in a new guise. Under the direction of Mario Zampi, who also produced the picture, Duggie is seen in his new vehicle as a human individual with a definite appeal to the emotions. Zampi has treated him not as a mere lay figure for comedy, but made him a young man with a believable character and a vein of pathos. The story of “Spy for a Day" has a war-time setting and a close connection with present-day events. Duggie is seen as Sam Gates, a country youth whose simple character makes him the butt of his village. War comes and Sum falls into *he hands of the enemy. He has a series of exciting adventures, and by the time he returns to the village, having faced death from a firing squad on more than one occasion, he is no longer the fool of the village, but a person of considerable importance.
