PATRIOTIC BABY CARNIVAL The Paddy's Market recently staged at. Raetihi. in aid of the R.S.A. baby t (Josephine Mowat) in the current Patriotic Baby Carnival, was an unqualified success from every point of view. The weather was pleasant, the stalls were generously stocked, the organisation was excellent and the crowd which patronised the market was in a beneficent mood. The effort , at midnight, well before the end of i the day the contests of all wawawawa I the day the contents of all the stalls i had been purchased, but the compcti-1 tions kept patrons happily entertained until the close of the market. The result is reflected in the fact; that already over £lOO has been paid , to the treasurer of the local patriotic I fund, to be credited to the account of I the “Diggers’ baby” as a result of the! market, and it is understood that | there is still more to come. The competitions conducted in con- ' nection with the market resulted as under:—Box of fruit (No. 75), Mr. Boyle; turkey (No. 71), Pat O’Connor; box of chocolates (No, 31), Mrs. Gregg; note (No. 57).
