TE RAPA TRACKS

SEMI-FINAL GALLOPS. GAY ROSETTE IMPRESSIVE. The going on the No. 1 track was hard and fast for the semi-final gallops for the Waikato Racing Club’s meeting over the week-end, but following the Rotorua meeting at which a number of local horses were engaged there was only a restricted programme observed, the most impressive effort of the morning being a round by Gay Rosette. Vitement (C. B. Goulsbro) was doing slightly better than Respectful (Long) at the completion of five furlongs in 1.2 4-5. It was an excellent effort on the part of Vitement, who may soon be seen to better advantage. Midland (Curran), who is bearing a healthy appearance, was restricted to strong work on the plough. Miss Eureka (Long) and Suree (J. Mclnally) were associated in a smartly run six furlongs, which was negotiated in 1.17 4-5, with the former doing the better of the pair at the finish.

Foxsen (Long) finished up useful work by sprinting down the straight. She looks none the worse for recent racing. Auto Score (Ensor) and Silent Maid (J. Mclnally) ran five furlongs in 1.4 1-5. A Fine Round. 1.52 Gay Rosette (Ensor), a brilliant track performer, traversed a round in 1.52 4-5, an impressive effort. Gay Rosette, who won on either day at Thames, is in splendid heart and with a Jinn track over the week-end she will have every opportunity of extending her winning account. Penzance (Jones) was shading Laughing Fox over the deciding stages of six furlongs in 1.141. Both are in good trim for pending engagements. Glenbevan (Ensor) was doing better than Sweet Nothing (Mclnally) at the conclusion of half-a-mile in 495. The former is in splendid heart and may soon be seen to better advantage. Marmoto (Brown) beat Trouvaille over five furlongs in 3-5. the final three furlongs being cut out in 3745. Marinoto has been making steady progress during the past several weeks. Clinch and Venture arrived this morning from Hawera in charge of E. George. H. Long has been engaged to ride Veritable. Mintlaw, Justina and Respectful in their first day engagements at Te Rapa. RE-HANDICAPS DECLARED. The following horses have been rehandicapped for the first day of the Te Rapa races on Saturday:— Juvenile Handicap: Regal Fox, 61b., making 7.8. Puketaha Handicap: Black Musk, 161 b. making 9.1 Augment, 61b., making 8.4. President’s Handicap: Corato, 51b. making 9.6; Duvach, 41b., making 7.11.
