EPIC STORY

GALLANTRY IN BRITAIN WASHINGTON, Feb. 11. The Mayor of New York, Mr. La Guardia, who is also chairman of the Joint United States-Cana-dian Defence Board, giving evidence before the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, urged approval of the Aid to Britain Bill. He paid a tribute to tile courage and gallantry of the British people in defence of their homeland. “When that epic is written,” he said, “it will be an epic of civilisation When the names of Hitler and Mussolini are used only to denote a sort of mental disorder.” Mr. La Guardia warned Senators against being deluded into the belief that the United States is absolutely safe.
