Mr. S. G. Smith, New Plymouth, recently-appointed liaison officer ot the National Service Department (Employment Division) was a visitor to Wanganui yesterday. Mr. Smith addressed a meeting of Wanganui farmers on the question of farm labour, and attended a similar meeting in Taihape on Tuesday night.

Major-General Sir John Duigan, C. 8., D. 5.0., Chief of the General Staff of the New Zealand MilitaryForces, was a visitor to Wanganui yesterday. Accompanied by Major S. H. Gould, N.Z.T.S., staff area officer, Wanganui, and Lieutenant G. Crossley, orderly officer, he visited the Territorial camp on the racecourse. He was escorted by Major J. L. McAlister, M.C., officer commanding.

Rev. J. A. Jermyn, 8.A., vicar of Seatoun, will be visiting Wanganui during the week-end. The Reverend Mr. Jermyn is a well-known West Coast personality, having been vicar of Westport and dean of Greymouth. He is regarded as one of the scholars of the Church of England in New Zealand. He will preach in Christ Church on Sunday evening and will address the Y.W.C.A. members on Monday evening on subjects connected with the forthcoming congress of that body to be held in Auckland in May. He will be the guest of the Ven. Archdeacon J. R. Young while in Wanganui.
