ASSOCIATION MATCHES PLAYED RESULTS OF SATURDAY'S PLAY Baseball matches in Wanganui were continued on Saturday on the Gonville Domain in fine weather. In the women’s matches high scoring was a feature. Results were:— WOMEN'S MATCHES. Checkers v. Star. Star: 4. 1,1, 6,4, 6—22. Checkers: 2,0, 0. 0,1, 1 o—4. Top scorers for Star: O. Shearer, four runs; F. Rivers, D. Groves, E. Hodder and S. Flyger, three runs each. Checker: L. Piddock. M. Tuffin, T. Allen and D. Brooks, one run each. J. Sinclair took a nice in-field catch for Checkers. Star’s surer throwing and handling of the ball put them in the lead to come home with still an innings on hand. O. Shearer and J. Jenkinson each got a home run for Star. Southern Aces v. Northern Aces. Southern Aces: 5,0, 7,5, 12, 0, 4—33 Northern Aces: 1,0, 0,3, 0,0, I—s Top scorers for Southern Aces were H. Ashby and J. Stent with five runs each; B. Gowan and G. Brooker four runs each. For Northern Aces: B. Stent, two runs; E. Bevege, N. Allpress and R. Gowan, one run each. B. Gowan scored a home run for Southern Aces, and B. Stent one for Northern Aces. Amazons v, Wanganui East. Amazons: 7,4, 3,7, 5, 5—31. Wanganui East: 0,0, 0,1, 1,0, I—3. Reardon and J. Sowman, three runs each. For Merewethers A Temperton three runs. L. Reardon hit two home runs, J. Nelson, H. Rue and F. Blackmore hit one each for Star. A Temperton hit one Merewethers. Wanganui East v. Harriers. Wanganui East: 7,8, 0,2, 1, 2—20. Harriers: 0,2, 8,0, 2, 0. o—l2.0 —12. Top scorers for Wanganui East were G. Dennington and C. Croucher three runs apiece. For Harriers G. Stensen three and E. Gowan two. Croucher hit a home run for Wanganui East, and B. Trow and D. Cotton hit one apiece for Harriers. Giants v. Pirates.
