ARMOURED VEHICLES

PRODUCTION OF TANKS IN DOMINION BRITISH EXPERT’S VISIT [ Per fraaa A«aocltti<m.] WELLINGTON, Feb. 7. Since his arrival in the Dominion a few days ago to advise and collaborate with the New Zealand Government in the production of tanks and other armoured vehicles, Mr. Harold Heath, a member of the British Ministry of Supply, has visited some of the railway workshops and has inspected facilities for the manufacture of this class of equipment. He has also had long consultations with the Minister of Supply, Hon. D. G. Sullivan, as well as with members of the War Cabinet, and the Army General Staff. Mr. Heath, who was accompanied on his visits to the railway workshops by the Controller of Munitions, Mr. E. T. Spidy, was a member of the British delegation to the Empire Economic Conference in Delhi last October. Several other members of the mission visited the Dominion before Mr. Heath, and it is understood that the railway workshops and other engineering establishments in various parts of the Dominion were thoroughly inspected by these experts. They are said to have expressed a very high opinion of the standard of efficiency of the workers and the technical staff employed in these shops, and to have been impressed with the modern equipment and engineering facilities installed. Though Mr. Heath has not yet had an opportunity to make so extensive an inspection of the country's engineering resources, from what he has already seen there is reason to believe that he fully endorses these views.
