APPEALS ALLOWED
ALTERNATIVE SERVICE CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTION BOARD'S RECOMMENDATION Five appeals against military service, lodged on grounds of conscientious objection by reservists drawn in recent Territorial ballots, were allowed by the No. 3 Armed Forces Appeal Board after hearing evidence on Thursday. The decisions were -i inounced yesterday. Three appeals on the same grounds, also by reservists drawn in Territorial ballots, were dismissed, and another was adjourned sine die, with a recommendation for alternative service. A similar recommendation was made in each of the five appeals allowed. 7tn appeals were heard by the board when the Wanganui sittings concluded on Thursday, the only appellant drawn in an overseas ballot being a Marton farmer, who appealed on the grounds of undue hardship and public interest. His appea. was adjourned sine die. The board consists of Mr. A. Colemar. S.M. (Wanganui), Mr. T. H. B. Evens (Wanganui), and Mr. T. R. Lees (Palmerston North). Appeals Dismissed Wesley Albert Chambers, appeal by self on grounds of conscientious objection: Appeal dismissed. Reginald Albert Kendrick-Hunt, appeal by self on grounds of conscientious objection: Appeal dismissed. Davis Maxwell Tooley, appeal by self on grounds of conscientious objection: Appeal dismissed.
