CONSTRUCTIVE ASPECT

WORK OF ARMED .FORCES APPEAL BOARDS [ Per Press Association. ] HAMILTON, Feb. 6. The constructive aspect of the Armed Forces Appeal Boards’ work was emphasised at the sitting of the No. 2 Board at Te Awamutu, in the case of a farmer who said he would prefer soldiering. He added that he milked a herd of 80 cows osi 104 acres. He produced 12,0001 b. of butterfat to December 31 last. This year his only assistants were his brother, too young for overseas service, and two young girls from Auckland oilices. Appellant asked postponement of service until July. The board directed that notice of appeal be amended to include public interest as a ground for the appeal. It was considered that the public interest would best be served by appellant remaining inproduction, possibly beyond the period which he suggested. The appeal was adjourned to the first sitting in July.
