REGENT THEATRE
“TWO GIRLS ON BROADWAY.” Irrepressible George Murphy, partnered by that promising young dancer Lana Turner, give a performance reminiscent of the Fred Astaire-Ginger Rogers combination in the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film “Two Girls on Broadway,” screening at the Regent Theatre to-day. The film lacks nothing in humour, while the dancing is beyond reproach. Joan Biondell, always to be relied upon for a splendid performance, adds a touch of the human element, and the whole show goes with a swing from the start. “Bridal Suite.” There is plenty of fun in “Bridal Suite,” which has returned to Wanganui as the associate feature on the Regent Theatre programme, but the producer has been careful not to overdo it at the expense of something more vital. Popular Robert Young and the beautiful Anabella are starred, and the supporting cast includes Walter Connolly and Billie Burke. To-morrow’s Change. Another doublo-feature attraction will be presented at the Regent Theatre when the programme is changed to-morrow. Humphrey Bogart will be seen in “The Return of Dr. X," and Gene Tutry, with Ann Rutherford are starred in the new Republic picture, “Public Cowboy No. 1.”
