MINE “FISHED UP”

DISCOVERY ON AUSTRALIAN COAST CAUGHT ON FISHERMAN'S LINE MELBOURNE, Feb. 5. Navy Office officials were informed to-day that Victorian coast fishermen, feeling a tug on a line, jerked vigorously and brought a mine to the surface a few feet from their boat. The men notified other fishermen nearby and all sailed their boats toward the shore. A mine also floated inshore. Minesweepers exploded the mine, which navy officials said had apparently broken adrift in recent bad weather from a minefield, the position of which was known. There was no cause for alarm.
