NEW MINISTER ADDRESSES RAILWAYMEN
MEN PLEDGE CO-OPERATION [ Per Press Association. ] WELLINGTON, Feb. 5. The new Minister of Railways, Hon. R. Semple, made his first official contact with representatives of the Amalgamated Society of Railwaymen when he attended the biennial conference in Wellington. He was cordially welcomed and assured of maximum co-operation from members of the organisation in his desire to run the railways with the maximum degree of efficiency. Following his address the confer-
ence passed a motion pledging complete co-operation with the Government, through the Minister, in the war effort, reaffirmed its confidence in the Labour Government, and pledged the fullest possible co-operation with the Minister in his effort to assist worekrs in the railway service.
