PATRIOTIC SPORTS

MAKIRIKIRI MEETING WOOD CHOPPING EVENTS TO BE FEATURED When the Makirikiri Sports Committee met recently to discuss whether the annual sports should be held this year, it was unanimous that the meeting should be for the patriotic funds, and a special effort is to be made on February 22 to raise as much money as possible for this cause. It has been decided to retain the chopping events in the programme, and the meeting will thus have the distinction of being the only one on the coast to have such events. Horse jumping and the usual novelty ring events are to be included on a programme which should make wide appeal.
