WEATHER FORECAST
Meteorological Office, Wellington, Thursday, February 6, 4 p.m. General Situation. —An almost stationary anti-cyclone covers the Tasman Sea and New Zealand. Pressure is low south of Chatham Island and a tropical cyclone is located north of Lord Howe Island. Forecast.—Winds: From a southerly quarter. Force mainly moderate but strong at times on the east coast and in the far north. Seas: Moderate with a considerable southerly swell. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate and variable winds in the southern portion, with moderate seas. Fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly winds in the central and northern portions, with rather rough seas. Weather; Fair to fine over most of the country, with isolated showers continuing on the Southland coast, however, and drizzle still likely in the extreme north. Temperatures rising. The New Zealand Friends' School, St. John's Hill, reports as follows for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday: Hours of sunshine, 11 hours. Rainfall, nil. Maximum temperature, 71deg. Fahr.; minimum temperature, 47deg. Fahr. Time of sunset to-day, 7.37 p.m. Time of sunrise to-morrow, 5.34 am. Phases of the Moon for February.—First Quarter, reoruary 4; Full Moon.
