WAITOTARA NEWS

EMERGENCY HOSPITAL. A well attended women's meeting was held recently, when Mi's. W. McFarlane and Mrs. D. G. Thompson, of Waverley, were the speakers. Mrs. McFarlane explained the object of the meeting and said that in case of emergency a hospital for the district would be established at the Waverley Town Hall. The whole scheme would be under thee supervision of Doctor .• P. Duncan, who had given details of what would be required to fit up the hospital. Waitotara promised to provide and equip six beds. It was made clear that all articles •would be on loan only and would not be collected unless the need arose. Those

willing to assist in lending what would be needed would be asked to put their names on each article and have them ready so that they could be collected at two hours’ notice in case of emergency. Mesdames Train, E. Parsons, I. D. Parsons, K. Handley, C. V. Pearce, H. J. Wilson, A. Hurley and P. Penfold were appointed to canvass the Waitotara district. The articles required are (for each bed): one mattress cover, one pillow cover, one pillow and two pillow cases, three sheets, two draw sheets, one mackintosh sheet, three blankets, two towels, two face towels, hot water bag and cover, one cake soap, one pair pyjamas, one counterpane, old linen, six bedsteads, (already promised). The meeting closed with a vote ol thanks to the speakers.
