A farewell message to the people of ?'ew Zealand was issued to-night on behalf of Lord Galway, who has now relinquished the Office of GovernorGeneral. and has left the Dominion On his return to Great Britain. Simultaneously w’ith his departure a proclamation was gazetted announcing that the Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, had assumed the office of administrator of New Zealand. He will act in this capacity until Lord Galway’s successor, Sir Cyril Newall, arrives in the Dominion and is swornin as Governor-General. Sir Cyril Newall was recently reported to have arrived in Canada on his way to New Zealand. In a farewell message Lord Galway expressed keen appreciation of the many kindnesses extended to his wife and himself during the six years of residence in this country.
