ROBBERY WITH VIOLENCE

WOMAN FOUND GUILTY ATTACKED AN INDIAN [ Per Press Association. J AUCKLAND, Feb. 5. The unusual occurrence of a woman being found guilty of robbery with violence, took place in the Supreme Court when a Maori, Materia Brown, aged 45. was charged with assaulting an Indian bottle-gatherer, Morar Kalyan, and robbing him of 14 10s. Through an interpreter the Indian said Brown asked him into a house in Freeman’s Bay and there assaulted him with a beer bottle and robbed him of a wallet and the contents. Evidence was given of the finding of the wallet in a restaurant where Brown had been sitting. The occupants of the house supported the Indian's story of robbery. The jury, after half an hour's consideration, found the woman guilty of robbery with violence and she was remanded for sentence.
