INSPECTION OF DISTRICTS [ Per Press Association. ) WESTPORT, Jan. 13. Speaking al a social gathering at Westport, the Hon. \V. Nash, Minister ot Finance, said lhe lirst call on wealth was embodied in the following: Care of the aged, care of lhe young, care ot lhe essential worker. The Labour Government had done more to bring about these ideals than any other Government in the world. To-day Mr. Nash, Mrs. Nash, and the Hon. P. C. Weoo mane an inspection of the mining and farming districts, visiting Millerton, bluckton, Seddonville and Denniston, and ul Mokihinui they watched land clearing by a 20-ton bulldoze!. Tney saw tree stumps removed and one large pint was uprooted and .shifted m live minutes. In his remarks Mr. Nash slated that if what he had seen done with Lhe bulldozer could be applied to other work and in other walks of life they would De able io build a wonderful world. The Ministerial parly was entertained at. various small functions by Labour supporters in the course oi the tour. This evening lhe Ministers were guests al a civic dinner, the Mayor, Mr. J. M. Robertson, presiding. Mr. Nash, in reply to a toast, made mention of the West Coast's line contribution in coal, gold, timber and farm produce toward the country’s needs, and expressed the opinion that the valuable work the miners did warranted better conditions for them. Mr. Webb upheld the British system of Parliaments as infinitely better than dictatorship. The Ministers will inspect reclaimed Pakiha areas, drainage works and the aerodrome to-morrow, later leaving for Greymouth and then for the Westland glaciers.
