OVERSEAS MAILS LOST
NOVEMBER POSTINGS LETTERS, NEWSPAPERS AND PARCELS L Per Press ■tasociallen. | WELLINGTON, Jan. 13. The Postmaster-General, the Hon. P. C. Webb, has announced that approximately 1600 bags of letters, newspapers and parcels, including both civilian and Expeditionary Force mails for Great Britain, have been lost through enemy action. The approximate dates of lhe postings are:—Auckland, Hamilton and Thames districts: All postings between November 5 and 22, inclusive. For the remainder of the North Island and South Island the approximate dates are:—Letters only, November 5 and 22, inclusive; newspapers and parcels, November 1 to 8, inclusive, and November 21 and 22. Postings of newspapers and parcels made between November 9 and 20, inclusive, were despatched by another vessel Included in the mail were approximately 400 bags of parcels for the fighting forces and 300 bags of parcels for civilians. The contents of the parcels consisted mainly of Christmas gifts of food and comforts.
