LESSON LEARNED
SNUFFING FIRE BOMBS [ British Official Wireless. ] RUGBY, Jan. 10. The lesson of prompt dealing with incendiary bombs during raids on Britain appears to have been well learned in London. According to reports practically the w’hole of one district was lit up during the latter part of last night’s raids as the result of a basket of incendiaries dropped. Within ten minutes all the bombs, most ol which fell in gardens and open spaces, had been dealt with by wardens and civilians. Londoners have never been backward in helping to extinguish incendiary bombs and the story is told of an elderly lady who was seen methodically extinguishing two incendiaries in her front garden as if it were a normal part of her daily domestic duties.
