COMPENSATION FOR LOSSES MARINES FOR LIBYA Received Jan. 12, 9.20 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 11. Admiral Muselier, in a broadcast, said: "For every ship destroyed we have armed three more 'ships. We now have 80 merchantmen operating, of which 30 are manned by French crews. Over 30 of our warships are participating in operations.” “Our surface warships defend lines of communication, escorting convoys and chasing submarines,” said Admiral Muselier. “The Free French Fleet in the first two months of their activity lost two warships, one submarine, one patrolship and four merchantmen. We have formed a battalion of marines who will soon be fighting in Libya.”
