CROQUET TITLES
NORTH ISLAND TOURNEY PLAY PROGRESS RESULTS OF GAMES With the first week's play over in the North Island croquet tournament, Wanganui players are performing well. The only visiting player to reach the semi-finals in the open championships is Miss Keatley (Auckland), who will play A. E. Ogier in the top half of the draw, and Mrs. Brass will play C. La Roche in the bottom half. The championship doubles are divided into two sections. In one section, Mrs. Burrett and Miss Keatley 'Auckland) hold pride of place, not having been beaten, and in the other section W. J. Jarvie (Wanganui) and Mrs. Bregan (Lower Hutt) are in a similar position. Section play prevails in several events and has proved popular. The handicap singles attracted 65 competitors. In section three the two finalists are D. Allan (Wanganui) and Mrs. Leadbeater (Kelburn); section four, Mesdames Jarvie and Hardley (Auckland); section five. Miss McKenzie (Lower Hutt) and Mrs. Wood 'Gonville); section six, Mrs, Remmington (Wanganui) and Mrs. Healey i Gonville); section seven, Mrs. Carline (Gonville) and Mrs. Drummond Wanganui East); section eight, Mrs. Rush (Taihape) and Mrs. Vincent (Gonville). Other Players The veteran player, A. J. Gibbs (Patea) has not played up to form or his handicap since taking part in this tournament, but perhaps when he participates in the Dominion tourney at Christchurch this week he will show his true form. Shield hit the solo ball and made eight points, including the peg, and proved the winner by one point. Visiting players who are playing up to form include Mesdames Keys, Burrett, Jarvie. Hardley, Bryan, and Miss Keatley. In the handicap doubles game, D. McClymont and Mrs. Owles (Wanganui) secured a good lead over their opponents. A. J. Gibbs (Patea) and Mrs. Stewart (Wanganui).
