MISSED AT OPUNAKE BEACH HALF AN HOUR BEFORE ALARM WAS RAISED I Per Press Association. ] NEW PLYMOUTH, Jan. 10. Disappearing beneath a small breaker at Opunake at mid-day, Margaret Parker, ten-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Parker, Otakeho, was not seen again. Only a slight surf was running and there was no undertow. The girl was accompanied by a twin sister, Ruth, who went co the house where they were staying, and almost half an hour elapsed before the alarm was given. A search proved fruitless. It is understood that the girls had instructions not to enter the wale'c until an auult friend of the family joined them, but apparently disobeyed the instruction. Ruth thought the water wa., cold and returned to the beach, but Margaret went out beyond a feroup in shallow water. It was the first drowning at Opunake for 10 years.
