DUTCH INDIES GRANTS Received Jan. 10, 9.30 p.m. LONDON, July 9. Doctor Slotemaker de Bruine, of the Dutch Colonial Office, in a speech said that although the Netherland Indies are spending £5,500,000 on defence in 1941 they provided money for 64 Spitfires and 20 bombers for the R.A.F. The native population sought a fur. ther measure of conscription to include natives, besides Dutchmen. Twenty per cent, of the natives accepted for the Dutch Indies Air Force qualified as pilots.
