DAILY INTERCESSION
Can the rush grow up without mire Can the flag grow without water? Whilst it is yet in his greenness, and not cut down, it. withereth before any other herb. So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite’s hope shall perish; whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider’s web. —Job. vlii, 11-14. Turn us, O Lord, unto Thyself, and teach us that in Thee alone is is our hope. May it please Thee to pardon whatever in us has helped to cause the present war. Pardon our want of faith in Thee; pardon our pride in our own greatness and power; pardon our love ot comfort, ease and puasure; pardon our carelessness for liberty and justice provided we were safe; pardon our contempt for other races; pardon our lack of public spirit; pardon our too great assurance of our own righteousness. Give us a true repentance and amendment of life, that our cry to Thee in the day vf our need may be a cry of sincerity.
