HOT BATHS FOR SOLDIERS
COMPLETE UNIT ON WHEELS
COMFORT ON THE MARCH SYDNEY, Dec. 19. In the rapid progress of hoisting <he army on to wheels, the latest utility to join the motorised columns is hot-bath apparatus. The first of these units is now almost completed. “The unit comprises 20 showers in four sets of live each,” the Minister for the Army, explained. “Each set is supplied witli hot water from a boiler, with an oil furnace, carried on a motor lorry. Pumping equipment also is provided, so that, so long as water is available, relays of 20 men at a time can have hot showers. The soldiers then can exchange their underclothing for clean sets at a mobile laundry, accompanying the bath unit. ■‘The showers and pumping apparatus can quickly be attached to the boilers, or detached, and the unit can move rapidly from one company of the division to another, or follow an army on the move. This unit will add greatly to the comfort of troops should they be in prolonged and continuous movements away frm ordinary bathing facilities.”
