BOYCOTT OF HOTELS
BEER PRICES DISPUTE
SYDNEY, Jan. 5. In sweltering temperatures, b>--strikers yesterday stuck grimly to tr. ban on hotels in areas where boycot. had been declared owing to a dispute about prices. In Wollongong, whe, . 12,000 miners are Involved in the boycott, concessions which did not coincide with the reductions made at the Family Hotel, Bulli, have been unani mously rejected. The Family Hotel has been declared “out of bounds” by the United Licensed Victuallers’ Association. Capitultaion of this hotel has made Bulli the rendezvous of the thirsty for many miles along the South Coast. Special cars and buses have been chartered, and petrol ration tickets pooled, to overcome the transport problems of distant drinkers and week-end supplies. The secretary of the Illawarra Trades and Labour Council, Mr. Cranston, estimated yesterday that Wollongong hotels have to date lost over £15,000. The Labour Council on the South Coast is standing solidly behind the beer strikers, and has organised the transport fleet to service the Bulli hotel customers in all affected areas.
