A Record of Service and Progress THE ANNUAL REPORT FOR 194» SHOWS < LEARLY THAT THE T. & G. IS IN THF FOREFRONT OF LIFE ASSURANCE OFFICES IN THE BRITISH EMPIRE. THE Society is noted for its service to Policyholders, and places great emphasis on the prompt settlement of Claims. During the last financial year over 12,851,000 was paid to Policyholders, equal to an amount of £9,500 every working day in the year. THE popularity of the Society is shown by the fad 1 that during the year a large number of existing Policyholders, in addition to new members, purchased protection for themselves and their dependants by effecting 153.710 new policies assuring £14.018,284. VVEN more convincing evidence of the esteem in which the Society is held is afforded by ihe total Assurances in Force, which has increased to £94,796,778. THE Assets now total more than £34,687,000, which 1 are held in trust for the Policyholders. They are and have always been, invested in first-class securities, and this has earned the T. & G. a reputation for financial stability. THE amount invested in Government securities in 1 Australia and New Zealand increased during this year by £967,566. The policy of the Board is Io contribute, to the limit of the Society's capacity, to the successful flotation ot the various Government War Loan issues. THE T. & G., being a purely mutual Society, does 1 not make ''profits," hut for the past financial year it showed a surplus of £939.727, the greater portion of which is to be distributed to Policyholders in the form of reversionary bonuses, the balance being used to strengthen the Society's reserves against unforeseen contingencies.
