INTERNAL STRIFE
UPRISINGS IN NORWAY FEELING AGAINST THE NAZIS INCREASING OUTBREAK OF CIVIL WAR IS FEARED (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright] Received Dec. 3, 10 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 3. Correspondents of both The Times and the Telegraph emphasise the development of Norwegian tension to fever heat after the attempt against the life of Major Quisling, the Nazi puppet. The Telegraph's Helsinki correspondent says the outbreak of civil war is feared. The Quislingites were again subjected to insults later in the day, when Quisling attempted to address a meeting at Sarpsborg, amid incessant catcalls, whistling, threats and other interruptions. A hand-to-hand conflict followed, resulting in four arrests. Many were taken to hospital. A Nazi official, Herr Lunde, arranged to address a meeting at Narvik and found the hall empty. A hostile crowd outside manhandled the Nazis as they came out. The police report that there are increased attacks against the Nazis and a growing number of kidnappings. The Times’ Stockholm correspondent says that internal strife in Norway is rapidly becoming more bitter. The Quislingites threaten sterner measures and have banned all badges except those approved by Quisling. As a result the Norwegians are wearing badges of various societies betraying loyalist sympathies. The authorities are unable to keep pace with the ingenuity'to achieve their purpose.
