Captain H. Sutcliffe, of the Church Army in Hastings, has been transferred to Auckland. Mr. G. Buxton Green, Timaju, has been elected president of the New Zealand Grain, Seed and Produce Merchants' Federation. Lieutenant-Colonel M. B. M. Tweed, assistant-director of medical services, central military district, returns io Wellington to-day from his visit to Auckland. Mr. W. J. Power, chief clerk, Ohakune Junction, has been transferred to the train running staff in the office of the district traffic manager of railways, Wanganui. Commissioner J. Evan Smith, territorial commander of the Salvation Army in New Zealand, who is visiting Auckland, including the Salvation Army Home on Roto Roa Island, Is expected back in Wellington on Friday. Second-Lieutenant T. B. Hewitt has been appointed second in command ot A (Wellington) Company, New Zealand Scottish Regiment, succeeding Lieut. I. H. Macarthur, who left on Saturday for the C.D.S.I. at Foxton. ,Dr. Elizabeth Gregory, lecturer in chemistry of food and instruction in the home science department, Otago University, has been appointed dean of the faculty of home science in place ot Professor Ann Strong, who recently retired. Mr. J. A. Moore is retiring from h.s position as principal of the Dunedin Training College after 3 years' service on the staff. He was accorded a farewell by the students of the college, and was presented with a gold pocket watch, inscribed, and bearing the college crest. Dr. J. V. Cable, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. Cable, Hataitai, who has been gaining hospital administration experience in Britain, has returned to New Zealand. He has been appointed assistant superintendent of the Dunedin Hospital, where he underwent his original training. Dr. Cable is on a visit to Hawera, where his wife's parents reside.
