Columbia's new screen drama "Coast Guard," commences to-day at lhe Regent Theatre, with Randolph Scott, Frances Dee, Ralph Bellamy, ana Walter Connolly heading the important cast. Said to be among the most important motion pictures of the yeai, “Coast Guard" has been hailed for its dramatic departure from the beaten path of action melodrama. The story, dedicated to courageous guardsmen who have risked their lives in the pursuance of duty, reveals the manifold activities oi an organisation which has protected the shores ot America since the birth of the nation. A woman jurist, honoured in her community tor the fairness, courage jr.d intelligence with which she metes out justice, is suddenly called upon to decide the fate of ther own daughter, accused of murder! That is the theme of Columbia’s “A Woman Is the Judge," the associate attraction, whose mounting suspense and thrilling climax are brilliant factors in a memorable film. Fine acting by Frieda Inescort, Otto Kruger and Rochelle Hudson, the featured players, add further drama to a sensaItional story.
