OBITUARY

MR. LESLIE GERALD HILL SECRETARY OF DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB [ Per Press Association. 1 DUNEDIN, Oct. 13. The death occurred to-day, after a faii’lv long illness, of Mr. Lesha Gerald Hill, secretary of the Dunedin Jockey Club for the past 13i years. He was a son of Mr, Samuel Hill, formerly Government valuer in Taranaki, and was educated at the Nev Plymouth Boys’ High School. On hz return from live War in 1918 he went to Whangarci. where he was appointed secretary of the local racing club, retaining that position till 1927. when he came to Dunedin. As a young man he was a prominent footballer, and in 1914 played full-back for the Taranaki team which captured the Ranfurly Shield from Auckland. He was unmarried.
