TRAFFIC CONTROL
IN RANGITHiEI COUNTY. (Own Correspondent.) MARTON, Sept. 5. A brief report of traffic control in the Rangitikei County’for July and August was submitted to the council meeting by the inspector, Mr. M. J. Hartigai, The July report stated that the total number of drivers tested was 12, of which three failed. Breaches of the traffic regulations reported to head office numbered 21, number of warnings issued 48, heavy motor-vehicles weighed 7. Testing of county residents was done on five days at Marton and one day at Taihape. On the other day the inspector visited Taihape there were no applications for a test. The usual check, was made on the operators of heavy motor-vehicles. August Report. The report for August stated that the total number of drivers tested was 28 of which three failed. Breaches of traffic regulations reported to head office were 13. Number of warnings issued was 60 and heavy motorvehicles weighed were 10. Testing of county residents was done on eight days—Marton 3, Taihape 2, Hunterville 2, Turakina 1. “During the month,” said M. Hartigan, “I conferred with the county engineer, Mr. Mair, relative to the approaches from the county roads into Marton. We have agreed upon the work that will be necessary to make them safer for the travelling public, particularly the bridge at Calico Line. Unfortunately the improved county roads around Marton are not in alignment with the roadways within the borough.
