Pictures Should be Everywhere.
“Look around you in any room in which thousands of people meet and you will not see pictures,” said Mr. H. C. D. Somerset, of Feilding, when addressing the Manawatu Women’s Club. That was typical of New Zealand, the speaker contended. He urged members to arrive at a point where they had fine pictures In their places of meeting as well as in their homes.
Shortage of Shoe Laces. Cotton shoe laces are in short supply in Hamilton and difficulty has been experienced in securing fresh stocks. Black laces are practically unprocurable and few brown and tan laces are available. Most of the laces come from Britain and France and, as cotton is required in large quantities for war purposes, the prospects for future supplies are uncertain. Exports from Japan are also not available.
