LAND FOR SOLDIERS
GOVERNMENT PURCHASE FOUR THOUSAND ACRES BOUGHT [ Per Preen Association.] ASHBURTON, Aug. 14. The Government has purchased more than 4000 acres of the lightest land in the area to be served by the irrigation scheme. The land will be worked and put into a state of productivity when water is available before being subdivided and settled. The scheme is part of a plan for settling soldiers on the land after their return from the war.
