EMERGENCY PRECAUTION SCHEME

WANGANUI ORGANISATION VARIOUS REPORTS ADOPTED A meeting of key representatives of various organisations of the Wanganui Emergency Precaution Scheme was held in the Wanganui City Council Chambers last night. The Mayor, Hon. W. J. Rogers, M.L.C., presided over a large attendance. Reports which had been formulated since the last meeting were tabled for consideration and later adopted. Reports were presented by Mr. D. E. Gullery, of the Wanganui Free Ambulance, Dr. A. Wilson, president of the Wangauni branch of the 8.M.A., Mr. F. J. Hill, Mr. F. H. Bethwaite, and Mr. L. F. Row, city engineer. The reports were all comprehensive in their details and were evidence of sound preparation. It was decided to adopt the proposals as set out by the Government for emergnecy purposes. These contain much of which was embodied in a report by the late Mr. J. S. L. Deem, a former engineer of the Wanganui City Council, which he wrote following the Napier earthquake. The Government’s proposals cover a wide range to meet all modern requirements.

The Mayor expressed thanks to all who had contributed reports and who had assisted in the work which, he said, was of first importance.
