SANDON LADIES’ SEWING GUILD
(Own Correspondent). SANDON, Aug. 14. The Sandon Ladies’ Sewing Guild which has been working for some five months past has now gone into recess and the organisation will in future work under the auspices of the Lady Galway Patriotic Sewing Guild.
The guild has, since its inception, been a very active organisation making clothes for refugees and also a number of articles have been dispatched to the boys overseas. It is understood that four containing about 500 articles have been sent away, these were made by an average of 10 ladies working one afternoon each week, which is an indication of what can be done by a women’s organisation even in a small district such as Sandon.
The committee organised social afternoons, raffles, etc., and raised the sum of 120 which was used to purchase material. The thanks of the guild are extended to all those who helped in any way to assist the organisation.
