L .S. PROFESSOR VISITING AUSTRALIA AND N.Z. [ Ter Press Association. } AUCKLAND, Aug. 14. Making a visit to Australia before returning to study taxation system* in New Zealand, Professor J. M. Gilbert. Dean of the College of Socia Science at the University of Oregon passed through Auckland by the Mariposa. Professor Gilbert expects tc return next month and spend aboul three months in the Dominion. Professor Gilbert, who is a specialist in finance and taxation problems plans to conduct research in Australia and New Zealand in the course ol his extended leave. He said he was acquainted with the New Zealanc taxation methods but wished to examine them at first hand. He wa? especially interested in studying taxation on the unimproved values system. A member of the University of Oregon staff for over 30 years. Professor Gilbert has been economic adviser and a member of several commissions inquiring into taxation.
