LEADING JOCKEYS AND TRAINERS PREMIERSHIP TO W. COOK Received Aug. 1, 7.5 p.m. SYDNEY, Aug. 1. W. Cook won the jockeys premiership for the racing year, which was concluded yesterday, with 123 firsts and three dead-heats. Other performances were: McMenamin, 115 firsts, two dead-heats; J. Duncan, 81 firsts, three dead-heats; D. Munro, 81 firsts, three dead-heats. McCarten was sixth with 43 firsts and two dead-heats, and Bartie eleventh with 32 and one dead-heat. A. Papworth headed the trainers’ list with 34 wins and one dead-heat. Mr. B. Payton won most of the prizemoney, a total of 114,410. Both Cook s and McMenamin’s figures exceeded the previous best total. A Melbourne message says the Victorian jockeys' premiership, based on metropolitan meetings only, resulted: H. Badger, 52 wins; A. Dewhurst, 36; J. Purtell. 33. J. Murphy led the trainers with 27 wins.
