WEDDING AT FRANKTON
WANGANUI COUPLE DAVEY—JACKSON A quiet but pretty wedding was solemnised at St. George’s Church, - Frankton, on July 3, by the Rev. V. A. Bianchi, when Annie, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Jackson, Wanganui East, was united in holy matrimony to Sapper Vivian Robert Davey, of the Railway Military Camp, Ngaruawahia, only son of Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Davey, Wanganui East. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a beautiful gown of French embossed satin. The bodice was fashioned with a gathered corse t and high neckline and was finish, with tiny buttons down the back. The graceful skirt fell in 'soft folds to form a iong scalloped train. The silk embroidered veil, which was held io place with a coronet of orange blossoms and silver leaves was draped to form a second train. This chiming ensemble was completed with a bouquet of roses, freesias, carnations and maidenhair fern. In attendance was Mrs. H. Stokes, o. , sister of bride, as matron of honour, and Miss Jo>ce Davey, sister of bridegroom, as bridesmaid. Both were gowned alike in delphinium blue silk taffetas, cut on princess lines and featuring the heart-shaped necklines. They wore silver coronets threaded with blue velvet ribbons. Their bouquets were of golden freesias, maidenhair fern and tulle. The duties of best man were ably carried out by the bride’s brother, Mr. Herbert Jackson, and Mr. H. Stokes was groomsman. On leaving the church the bride was presented with two hc-rse shoes, one by the bride’s younger sister, Miss Nola Favey, and the other by Miss Norma Smardon (Te Aroha). A reception was later held at St. George’s Hall, where the bride’s mother received her guests, wearing a henna ensemble with accessories to tone. She was assisted by the bridegroom’s mother, who wore a navy tailored coat with matching accessories. Both wore shoulder sprays to tone. During the reception a long list of telegrams was read. After the usual list of toasts had been honoured a popular toast to “The Army’’ was proposed by Rev. V. A. Bianchi and was suitably responded to by Sergeant Chandler (Canterbury). Mr and Mrs. Davey left by car for Te Aroha, the bride wearing a navy tailored costume, with furs and accessories to tone.
