THE FRENCH FLEET
REPORTED DISPOSITION. Received Aug. 1, 7.35 p.m. NEW YORK. Aug. 1. The New York Times’ Vichy correspondent states that the naval authorities claim that the disposition of the French fleet is as follows: In England: The warships Paris and Courbet, one torpedo-boat, one dispatch boat and several auxiliaries. At Alexandria: The Suffren. Duquesne, Tourville, Duguay Trouin, and the aircraft-carrier Beran. At Casablanca: The Jean Bart, Maneluk and Triomphant. At Dakar: The Richelieu. At Toulon: The Casque. It is indicated that the Bretagne, Rigaultde and Genouilly were the only ships sunk, while the Provence, Richelieu and Strasbourg were slightly damaged. There is no information regarding the damage to the Dunquerquc.
