A DAY NURSERY
r pHE establishment of a day nursery in Wanganui has been advocated by two countrywomen in a letter to the “Chronicle.” It is a project worthy of consideration and should be invi. ligated by the Retailers’ Association, the Mothers Helpers’ League, and the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, which bodies could formulate proposals of a concrete nature. As an immediate suggestion, the extension of the Ladies’ Rest by the addition of a storey to the present structure, would give a centrally-situated home for the day nursery. While such accommodation is being provided the nursery could probably find temporary quarters in the city area. The provision of equipment and toys would present no difficulty, and the immediate offer of one correspondent to take up duty on one day in each week should prompt others to come forward to help in this very useful field of social aid.
