A defence of the measures taken in , ‘ France against the Communists u | contained in a letter addressed to the I British Labour Party by the secretary 'of the French Socialist Party. The i letter admits that the measures are ’ severe, but emphasises the magnitude of the danger which the Communists represent in France, and which the measures are designed to meet The Communist Party, it is stated, has taken up a position with a foreign Government which is an accomplice of a country with which France is at war. Under these conditions, the I question is absolutely clear. It has to !be decided whether a party, under I orders and in the pay of a foreign Power, can take part and vote in a I French Assembly where it can be informed of the military and diplomatic secrets of the country.
