KAKATAHI GOLF CLUB

OFFICIAL OPENING (Own Correspondent.) The Kakatahi Golf Club were favoured with a delightful day for the occasion of their official opening. There was a good attendance of members and also present was a small contingent from the Waimarino Club. Mr. J. Delves (president) performed the opening ceremony. In his speech he referred to the happy and sociable atmosphere which had always existed at the Kakatahi Club and expressed the hope that this season would prove to be no exception.

. The first ball off the tee was driven by the president, whose “screamer" received a round of applause. A Canadian foursome was played with the following results (net scores are indicated):—Mrs. Duncan and C. Baddeley 31, Mrs. R. Wallace and C. Bond 33, Miss Natting and A. Duncan 34, Mrs. F. L. Smith and Mundell 34, Mrs. Phillip and H. R. Baddeley 35, Mrs. Windle and R. Wallace 36, Miss S. Wallace and S. Sims 36, Mrs. C. Boyd and A. Phillips 37, Miss M. Manson and T. Rowe 39, Miss L. Legge and J. Delves 39. At the conclusion of play Mr. Delves presented a trophy to the winners (Mrs. A. Duncan and C. Baddeley). A feature of the day was the afternoon tea, -which was of the usual standard and revealed the well-known generosity of the district.
