Meteorological Office, Wellington, Tuesday, April 23, 3 p.m. General Situation.—An anti-cyclone covers the northern Tasman and New Zealand, but pressure is beginning to fall in the south. Forecast. —Winds: Light to moderate and variable northerlies predominating over the South Island, gradually freshening. Seas (New Zealand waters): Slight or moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light and variable winds in the northern portion, moderate northerlies in Ihe south. Seas slight to moderate. Weather: Mostly fair to fine but i.-olated showers still possible in districts with an easterly aspect from Hawkes Bay northwards and scattered showers developing later in .he far south-west. Cold again to-night but temperatures becoming milder. The New Zealand Friends’ School St. John's Hill, reports as follows for 21 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday.—Hours of sunshine, 6 hours 10 minutes. Rainfall, nil. Maximum temperature, 62deg. Fahr.; minimum temperature. 37deg. Fahr.
