Since its foundation the Matapuna flock has been carefully line bred, incorporating by the careful use of outside sires the most popular strains of Romney blood, such as those founded by the famous rams Premier and Brazil, and other families, which have proved successful in the Penrose Leedslown, Parorangi and Waiorongomai flocks.
