WEDDING

BOURKE—WAIN.WRIGHT A very pretty evening wedding was solemnised recently in St. Patrick's Church, Pa-tea, when Leslie Winifred, younger daughter of Mr. A. E. Wainwright and the late Mrs. Wainwright, Patea, was married to Patrick Alexander, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Bourke, Whenuakura. Rev. Father Rohan officiated.

The bride, who was given away by her father, looked very striking and pretty in a beautiful gown of white stiffened lace over net and taffeta. The neckline was heart shaped and edged with a net frill, while the bodice was tightly fitting and the skirt, which was very full, was gathered in at the waist, falling into a train. The long sleeves were becomingly puffed at the shoulder and formed into a point over the hands. The tulle veil, which was worn over the face as the bride entered the church, was caught with a spray of orange blossom. Carrying a beautiful sheaf of storm lilies, miniature dahlias and maidenhair fern, the bride made a very pretty picture. Attending as bridesmaids were Miss Jean Hunt and Miss Norma Bourke, sister of the bridegroom. They wore sunset pink sprigged waffle organdie over taffeta frocks, with heart shaped neckline trimmed with pleated frills and full gored skirts and full puffed sleeves. They wore peach mittens and silver sandals. The headdress consisted of veils caught on the top of the head with sprays of peach gardenias. A frock of forget-me-not blue taffeta with a full skirt and blue velvet sash was worn by the little flowergirl Joan Bates. The bridesmaids carried bouquets of dahlias, zinnias, rosebuds and maidenhair fern, while the little flowergirl’s bouquet was made up of love-in-the-mist rosebuds and forget-me-nots. Mr. James Gibbs, of Alton, acted as best man, while Mr. J. Archer, of New Plymouth, was groomsman. The guests were received, at a reception held in the Druids’ Hall after the ceremony, by the aunts of the bride, Misses F. and J. Hogg, of Masterton.

The bridegroom's mother wore a gown of violet velvet and matching toque. The bride went away wearing a navy ensemble and a navy hat. also navy accessories. She also carried a handsome fur stole.
