The wrestling season was opened in Auckland to-night, when Sergeant “Lofty” Blomfield. of New Zealand Military Forces, defeated “Chief Little Wolf,” the American Red Indian, before a crowd which filled the house to overflowing. Blomfield. who was given a very fine reception, gained the only fall in the match, this being by means of a body press following a succession of elbow jolts and two slams in the sixth round. TOUGH, TORRID BOUT CORBETT DRAWS WITH RAINES ( Per press Association ] WELLINGTON. April 22. Wellington’s Centennial wrestling season opened with a tough, torrid bout between two well-matched, hardfighting matmen, Dick Raines and Joe Corbett, who drew, one fall each. Corbett, who was making his NewZealand debut, proved a fast, vigorous, scientific wrestler, capable of taking and returning rough handling. He took the first fall in the fourth round, setting about Raines with stomach throws and pinning him with a cradle-hold. Raines, who set a note of lawlessness, drew even in the sixth round, when be twice dumped Corbett across his knee in a back-“breaker and then pinned him. There was a full house.
