PARTY FOR BRIDE-ELECT. (Own Correspondent.) On Friday afternoon Mrs. D. K. McKenzie and Miss N. Mathieson entertained three tables at bridge in honour of Miss Molly Dickie, whose marriage takes place shortly to Mr. I. Henderson, Waipukurau. The drawing-room at Mrs. McKenzie’s home was tastefully decorated in autumn tonings. The guest of honour received many useful gifts for her bathroom. The winner of the highest score at bridge was Mrs. P. Bremer. Among those present were Mesdames E. Dickie, D. K. McKenzie, P. Bremer, A. Alexander, C. Medlicott, J. Walkinton, K. Honeyfield (Patea), P. Thompson, P. English, Misses M. Dickie, C Newland, A. Graham, N. Mathieson. The guest of honour was attired in a saxe blue frock and navy blue accessories. Mrs. McKenzie wore a brightly-patterned silk frock and Miss Mathieson a figured frock in mauve tonings.

CHALLENGE ROSE BOWL MATCH Patea succeeded in defeating Waverley at the local tennis courts on Saturday in the final match for the Intermediate Challenge Rose Bowl by 196 games to 147. Both clubs had won a match each and Patea, by winning the third, decided the holder of the bowl until next season. The following are the results, Waverley players being mentioned first:— Ladies’ Singles.—Miss T. Aiken 2, lost to Mrs. S. Campbell 7; Miss C. Newland 7, won from Miss E. Cousins 3; Miss N. Heginbotham 8, won from Mrs. S. Edwards 6; Miss J. Fowler 2, lost to Mrs. R. Campbell 7; Mrs. Clarke 7, won from Mrs. G. Cosford 2; Miss V. Aiken 8, lost to Miss H. Davidson 10.
